A mysterious death of a young man named Zahid Hasan (27) in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga has raised serious concerns. Even after 18 days of his death, the investigation has shown no visible progress, leaving the victimâs family angry and deeply worried.
On Wednesday afternoon, January 14, police recovered Zahidâs body from a grassy field adjacent to Haru Shahâs shrine in Piaratala area of Manoharpur Union.
The deceased Zahid was the son of late Ashraf Uddin of Khayerhuda village under Kedki Union. According to the family, this was not a natural death; rather, Zahid was deliberately murdered due to a prior dispute. Since the incident, his relatives have been living in fear and uncertainty over whether justice will ever be served.
Zahidâs mother, overwhelmed with grief, said,
âMy son was murdered, but there has been no progress even after 18 days. If I donât get justice, I will die with this pain.â
Her cries created a heart-rending atmosphere at the family home. Zahidâs wife echoed the same demand, saying,
âI want proper justice for my husbandâs murder.â
Zahidâs elder brother Inamul stated that he filed a written complaint as the plaintiff at Jibannagar Police Station. However, police informed them that the post-mortem report has not yet been received.
Local Union member and Zahidâs cousin Abbas alleged,
âDue to some invisible influence, the killers have not been arrested yet. We demand an urgent investigation from senior police officials.â
Regarding the matter, Anarul Kabir, Assistant Superintendent of Police of JibannagarâDamurhuda Circle, told journalists that a case has been filed against unknown accused persons.
âThe case is under investigation. Police activities are ongoing. Necessary legal action will be taken once the post-mortem report is received.â
The incident has created widespread sensation in the area. The victimâs family is demanding a swift completion of the investigation, the revelation of the mystery behind Zahidâs death, and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
