An Awami League leader in the Kushkhali area of Satkhira has been accused of assaulting a female activist of Jamaat-e-Islami and snatching her gold chain and mobile phone.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on Monday (February 2) at around 12:00 noon, following a dispute over cutting bamboo and mango tree branches near the house of Jamaat female activist and widow Kadbanu Bibi (55). The complainant alleged that local Awami League leader Abu Bakar Siddique, along with his wife Sundori and their two sons, Azmul Hossain and Nazmul Hossain, forcibly cut the tree branches.
When Kadbanu Bibi protested and asked for an explanation, she was allegedly assaulted. It was further claimed that when a bystander attempted to record the incident on a mobile phone, the phone was snatched away.
