With the aim of ensuring a free, fair, and impartial 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum 2026, a day-long intensive training workshop for polling officials was held in Jibannagar, Chuadanga.
The workshop took place on Thursday (5 February) at 12:30 pm at the premises of Jibannagar Thana Model Pilot Secondary School, organized by the Upazila Election Office.
The program was presided over by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer, Md. Ashraful Alam Rasel. The Chief Guest of the event was the Deputy Commissioner of Chuadanga and Returning Officer, Mohammad Kamal Hossain.
Special guidance on law and order and security issues was provided by the Superintendent of Police of Chuadanga, Mohammad Monirul Islam, who attended the training session as a special guest. The District Election Officer, Ahmed Ali, was also present as a special guest.
In line with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, hands-on training was provided to Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, and Polling Officers to ensure proper management and transparency at polling centers.
The training mainly focused on the following issues:
Ballot and Ballot Box Management: Proper procedures for displaying empty transparent ballot boxes before voting and correct methods of ballot paper custody.
Voter Identification: Accurate digital and manual voter identification processes to prevent fraudulent voting.
Vote Counting and Results Management: Transparent counting of votes after polling and mechanical and administrative procedures for sending accurate results to the Returning Officerâs office in the shortest possible time.
Code of Conduct: Strict instructions on the dos and donâts for officials inside polling centers.
In his speech, the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamal Hossain, stated,
âA fair election is essential for nation-building. The trust of the entire country rests on the neutrality and integrity of you who have been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the polls. Any form of irregularity or deviation will not be tolerated.â
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Monirul Islam assured officials of adequate security, saying that sufficient security measures would be ensured at every polling center so that voters and officials can carry out their duties without obstruction.
Several hundred officials from various educational institutions and government offices of Jibannagar Upazila participated in the training. Throughout the day-long workshop, the District Election Officer responded to various queries raised by the participants.
At the end of the training, the officials pledged to conduct the election in a neutral, peaceful, and festive atmosphere.
