To transform the Alamdanga Municipal Cattle Market into a modern and smart marketplace, ongoing development and construction work was inspected by Member of Parliament Advocate Masud Parvez Russell of the Chuadanga-1 constituency.
Around 12:00 PM on Monday, the MP visited the project site and observed the quality of work, rate of progress, and overall management. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, he instructed the concerned officials to complete the work swiftly and with precision.
During the inspection, the MP was accompanied by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Alamdanga and current municipal administrator, Panna Akter. She briefed him on the technical aspects of the project and its current progress.
Ongoing Development Works Include:
Construction of Sheds: Spacious and modern sheds for housing cattle.
Drainage System: Improved drainage facilities to ensure quick removal of rainwater and waste.
Water and Sanitation: Adequate supply of safe drinking water and modern toilet complexes for buyers and sellers.
Security and Boundary Wall: Necessary infrastructure to maintain discipline and ensure security within the market premises.
Speaking to journalists and local residents after the visit, MP Masud Parvez Russell said,
“The Alamdanga Municipal Cattle Market is the economic lifeline of this region. The government is committed to transforming this market into a modern and well-organized commercial hub. Improved infrastructure will ensure a safe and comfortable environment for buyers and sellers, which will indirectly increase government revenue and further strengthen the local economy.”
Issuing a warning regarding the quality of work, he added:
“No irregularities will be tolerated in this project implemented with public funds. Contractors and engineers must ensure transparency and accountability and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.”
Local traders and leaseholders expressed relief over the long-awaited renovation of the previously dilapidated market. They stated that even light rainfall used to create mud and waterlogging in the market area, a problem that is now being addressed.
They also urged the authorities to complete the work promptly, saying that once modern facilities are ensured, the number of wholesalers from different parts of the country is expected to increase.
Concerned authorities hope that upon completion, the Alamdanga Municipal Cattle Market will become one of the leading cattle markets not only in Chuadanga District but also in the southwestern region of Bangladesh.
With improved cleanliness and enhanced sanitation facilities, long-standing sufferings of cattle traders are expected to come to an end.
Local dignitaries, political leaders, and officials and employees of the municipality were also present during the inspection.
