Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, a total of Tk 30,000 in fines has been imposed on representatives of four candidates in Manirampur upazila for violating the electoral code of conduct. The penalties were imposed through five mobile court operations conducted throughout the day on Thursday, January 29, under various provisions, sources said.
According to officials, at around 2:00 pm on Thursday, a mobile court fined the representative of an independent candidate contesting with the Kalash symbol Tk 5,000 for hanging campaign banners at the entrance of Shyamkur Union Parishad, in violation of Section 7(c) of the Political Parties and Candidates’ Code of Conduct for Parliamentary Elections 2025.
In separate mobile court operations conducted in Shyamkur and Chaluahati unions, representatives of candidates contesting with the Sheaf of Paddy, Hand Fan, and Plough symbols were fined a total of Tk 15,000 for hanging campaign materials on trees, also under Section 7(c) of the same code.
Additionally, on the same day at Chinetola Market in Shyamkura Union, a representative of the Sheaf of Paddy candidate was fined Tk 10,000 for using decorative lighting in election campaigning, in violation of Section 13(c) of the Code of Conduct 2025.
The five mobile court drives were conducted by Manirampur Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahir Dayan Amin and Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Jashore Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Md. Tawmeed Hasan. The operations were carried out with overall assistance from Manirampur Police Station and a team of the Bangladesh Army stationed at a temporary camp.
